Well done you lot! I hope it goes well even if none of you are there to see it.

Well that's because I spelt it with an S back in those days
Company reorganisation.

Brilliant, that's the one they'll be using.

Cheers Matt and Badge.

Reorganization is great, Steve. But I've told you that before ;)

Dan

It's even better with an S.

I'm getting confused with Z's & S's in those kind of words.
Who Authorized these rules?

Yes it was Reorganisation they picked, I checked.

Nice!
Someone brought some spare Zeds to confuse me even more.

No one authorised them. According to Answerbank:

"The old rule - and one still largely followed by The Oxford English Dictionary as well as American usage - was that words derived from classical Greek with the letter zeta in their suffix were rendered -ize in English. However, many modern publishers - including 'The Times' newspaper - prefer the Latinate and more modern -ise' for most such words. Thus, normal British usage has 'organise', 'apologise' and so on. Certain words - eg 'capsize' - are never modified to have an -ise ending. In the same way, there are others - such as 'disguise', 'analyse' and 'chastise' - which are never given an -ize' ending, because they have a letter sigma rather than a zeta even in their Greek forms. Apart from the exceptions mentioned above, you are basically free to use whichever form - ise/ize - you prefer! Only...be consistent."

So izers are Greek, we isers are Latin...

Did anyone on here win this then?

I'd imagine they gave it to a writer who was there on the night.

I wonder if there were any.

Not any of the BCG Big Guns, as far as I'm aware. And I am very aware.

Michael, appropos of nothing, is it your good self who's on the Kate Nash lit agent long list/ If so, congratulations.

Derek

Searching through names, it seems our Michael Monkhouse is the first name out, so it seems likely. Well done for being on the long list-hope you make the short.

Yes it is me. Thanks for your comments, we live in hope...
