I would not disagree with that statement. Though a better version was performed at The Works and apparently went down very well. The M & W version was basically a good idea that had yet to develop into a good sketch. Not that I care now, it was featured on the best sketch show on radio and I've currently been paid for it twice! It's a win!

Did you get invited to submit for the show, or did the sketches just find their way into the right hands by their own force?

He sleeps around, Bomsh.

Oh Christ! Is there no career path left for fat, ugly, twitchy people?

I just approached the show's producer and showed him some of my material.

And blew him.

Seriously you didn't mention any contacts or anything?

Wish I had your balls (or anyone's damn rotary saw wanking accident).

No, I just said I wanted to show him some sketches.

And blew him.

You just have to email the man, man!

Again I thought the red button material had an edge on the show proper; particularly enjoyed Mark and Abi being bitter.

Yeah, I really enjoyed the red button stuff or 'yellow' button. Why didn't any of it make it into the show?

This week's was awful. I think I only laughed once and I'm not sure what it was at. It's such a pity because Mitchell and Webb are great and each sketch seems to have potential, but then you just watch as it packs in around them (the final 'quiz' sketch on a space ship being an example of this). I really enjoyed week one though so I'll see what next week brings.

The quiz sketch was a case study in why you should never have a reveal half way through a sketch; it was bubbling along quite nicely, but they seemingly had no idea how to end it, so they lurched off in a completely different direction, throwing in a huge wodge of indigestible exposition, and blew half the series budget on an unfunny special effect.

I thought this week's was terrible. I don't know why I watched it. I only laughed once and that was at something with the word bum in it.

Because you wouldn't have known that it was terrible if you hadn't done so?

Mitchell and Webb do seem curiously obsessed with quiz shows, whether it's Numberwang, Remain Indoors, or any of the other multiple quiz show sketches that have popped up over the course of four series. I think there's another one in this Tuesday's episode.

No proper job so they spend all their time watching daytime telly?

No proper job so they spend all their time watching daytime telly?

There's probably a lot of truth in that. It's a long, long time since they've had to hold down a proper job.

You say that like it's a bad thing. Most popular comedians and TV people don't make TV shows during their week off from the office.
