I've just heard of the sad death to that lovely woman Hilda Braid who brilliantly played Florence Johnson in my second favourite sitcom of all time, Citizen Smith at the age of 78. She more recently played Nana Moon in Eastenders. A very sad loss as she was such a warm actress. RIP
Hilda Braid RIP
She was in Time Gentlemen Please too. Sad indeed.
(Moved to 'Other British Comedy' as she's not a sitcom.)

She should be. You can shoot me if you want, but I think her performance as Florence in "Citizen Smith" was and still is the funniest performance by a woman on TV.
I loved the way she said "Foxy"
Classic. The best line from her was in the episode where Wolfie steals a tank and puts it in the Dads garage. As he is about to park his car in it he sees the tank that has taken up most of the room in the garage. He presses the button by mistake and shots fire out. Mad he shouts "Florence! Florence! come and have a look at this" She comes over and she says "I prefer are Rover Charles" That is definetly, in my opinion one of the best moments ever in TV Comedy
I thought she was great in Citizen Smith.
However she played the same character in Eastenders and for me it didn't work.
Dunno if it was her choice or theirs to play it the same way though.

Never watch Eastenders, so can't comment. When the press were saying Nana Moon had died, I didn't know who they meant. Once I realised the Citizen Smith link, I twigged who it was. She was always my favourite character in that. Funny lady. RIP.
