Bob Monkhouse doc on Radio 2 now

Good so far.

Damn - forgot it!

Listened to this the other day. Really good. Been a fan of Bob for a while and have his biography to read next.

I know this will sound strange but does anyone still miss Bob.

I mean he was on TV so much and then he died in 2003 and 7 years later I still miss seeing him on TV.

My fave BM joke: "I still have sex at 74. I only live at 72, it's not far." :D

And of course- "They said I'd never make it as a comedian- well they're not laughing now."

I understand Monkhouse was well liked personally and a learned man in contrast to public persona as a shallow oily show biz type.

Didn't he get his jokebooks stolen and then offer a reward for their return?

He did, yes.

Hmm, that Tim Vine has always looked too innocent for my liking. I wonder...

Coinciodentally, a TV doc on the great man tonight entitled The Unforgettable Bob Monkhouse. Wonder if the ITV production company knew about the Radio 2 documentary?. The Unforgettable Jeremy Beadle next week Huh? At least BM was unforgettable in a good way

Love Monkers! For years he was just the slimy chat-show host who made my surname a bad joke, but when I watched his live stand-up it blew me away. An incredible talent.
