Yeah, I can't say I have much love for him.

Squads of 25 for this season, at last a rule that makes life fairer for the non mega rich super clubs. A few more rules like that are still needed to balance things up a bit.
Why can't we do what Italy do - apart from the fact they were crapper than us at the World Cup?
What's that, play dull defensive football, cheat to get penalties and wear long hair?
They only allow about 5 foreign players per team.
I don't see how a reduction in foreign players will help English football. Our best players should be playing against the best players week in week out, the quality foreign players in the Premier league allow that to happen. Forcing more English players into the top league just reduces the quality in my mind.
We should have done that years ago but the premier league keep blocking it I think. I'd also have a limit of 5 foreign coaches in the premiership.
I'm all for the twenty-five limit, yet I disagree with the limit of foreign players. The Premiership has been so succesful due to foreign imports and coaches, they shouldn't be limited. If you're good enough to play in the top division, then you're good enough regardless of your nationality. Such moves will decline the quality of the football in the Premiership.
I don't see how English players improve by playing against the best foreign imports because they can't get in the team. It's imports v imports.
English football doesn't exist any more because there's no sod playing it...unless you count the reserves.
How many of our world cup squad played outside the premiership? How many didn'tplay a significant number of games, SWP maybe? The best English players will always play in the top division and play the majority of games. Having another 100 also rans in the teams will make no difference to the standard of English Football.
But how many players does Capello realistically have to choose from? 40? 50?
20 squads of 25 equates to 500 players and if memory serves around 70% are are from the other home nations or overseas. To have only 150 English players in the top flight is not enough especially when the vast majority of them can barely make the bench.
They can only improve by getting the chance to play and at the moment they don't.

But how many player WILL Capello realistically choose from? Always those top 40 or 50. It doesn't matter if there are 10, 100 or 600 underneath.
The others can play in the lower leagues and when they are good enough they will get transfered. And then can better again, playing against the better overseas players.
That was quite funny - but choreograhed goal celebrations really piss me off. Should't they be spending their time in training learning to play better?

I'm not saying that there should be 100% English players because that's plainly ridiculous but I don't think it unreasonable for 50% to at least be from the UK. The problem is that so many of the imports are proved to be no better than English players but because they are foreign it adds that little bit of glamour. It's not sexy to buy George Bishop from Doncaster Rovers compared to Juan Hernandez from Botafogo
