Rev - Series 1 Page 11

Categorisation is useful for things like finding stuff in shops. Other that that, what's the point?

They don't even catergorise in shops anymore. I notice HMV now lumps all the TV drama and comedy together.

I watched it for the first time last night and only chuckled once. I think it should be classed as comedy/drama. Jonathan Harvey the writer? Is that the Gimme Gimme Gimme writer?

I assume it's the same bloke, yes. Although he didn't create the series, that was Tom Hollander and somebody else.

Ah, I see, it seemed a million miles off Jonathan's writing :)

Yes, the same Jonathan Harvey - now spends most of his time penning Coronation Street.

Loved his flirtation with Rome, a fantasy world in which he is a priest who commands respect and fear among his full congregations.

Yes, I loved that bit. He went all intense and priesty. Very good.

It's pretty much become my favourite current programme now. Don't want the series to end. :(

Yeah but I don't see too many more series of Rev being squeezed out, it's primarily about issues within the modern day church and the hardships of being an urban vicar. One more series I think is all they could manage without repeating themselves, putting not very topical or salient issues in or changing what it is - it's very tightly scripted, that's its main strength, if it became another loose sitcom soap the way some sitcoms have in the past then it would ruin its reputation. I'd say it's got one more series then that's it.

Well, you're the expert!

Yes I know.

Are you a vicar Alfred?

Nope. Just an expert.

In which case I disagree. A Vicar deals with society everyday. Therefore anything in society is fair game, limitless material. A knock on the door is all it takes.

Then it'll simply become another soapcom.
