I have to finally book the dentist this week.....now I can fit in the chair.
Nice houses Andie, why can't they be like that in England?

Ellie is very glad that nearly all the packing is done and is looking forward to getting the keys to the new place.

We haven't got the space. I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but America's quite large.

Yes we have, I just thought I'd type like we haven't.

You know what, that's a good point.
Go on Andie, delight us all by telling us roughly what one of those beauties costs?

The one I'm very interested in (the yellow one) is listed for $165,000.00 but has been on the market for almost a year now. My real estate agent is guessing we can put in an offer for 145 and have it accepted.

We don't have that here that I'm aware of.
??
I think that's about £95,000. (correct me if I'm wrong)
Why does anyone live in England? We are all flipping idiots.
This is the sort of luxury mansion you can buy here for that price.

Touch of paint and it'll come up nicely

It all depends on the area. That $145,000 home would cost a million dollars in some parts of the country. Something that old/large in San Antonio would be in one of the older, ritzier neighborhoods and would probably cost about $800,000. You could build a new, larger place in one of the cookie cutter gated neighborhoods (small yards) for not much more than $200,000.
Check http://www.realtor.com for prices nationwide. I'm in the 78258 zip code area if you want to see what homes are selling for in my neghborhood.
Oh wow. that's rather depressing.
The thing that is so funny is that if you drive 10 miles north of that house the price would jump from 145 to probably 250 at least.

Good point, I guess that's true.
But nowhere in England could you buy a house that huge and lovely for so little.
I am very envious.
Sorry where in the States are you Andie?
Finger Lakes region of New York. I'm in Wine Country.
