Greatest Sitcom Episode

What does everyone think is the best single sitcom episode?

I know it is the one that usually everyone picks but for me it is "The Deadly Attachment" from Dad's Army, partly because of "Don't tell him Pike" but also because of the situation - the platoon finally getting to meet the Germans. It was the thing everyone watching the show had been waiting to see (although the platoon had come across Germans before in earlier episodes).

I'll go for 'Are You Right There, Father Ted?', the first ep. of series 3. Of Father Ted.

There are far too many to mention, really. I certainly couldn't narrow it down to just one episode that was superior to all others.

But here's two random goodies that spring to mind:

IT CROWD 'The Work Outing' (The gay episode).

RED DWARF 'Marooned'.

Hard to choose just one but the Red Dwarf episode Me2 is a strong contender. There are lots of really good episodes in all sorts of sitcoms but not so many are pure unalloyed joy from start to finish like that one.

On radio as well?

If so, Sunday Afternoon At Home - Tony Hancock

'So Rosita she said 'Don't sit down there all by yourself Clark, go round to Mr Hancock's, there's always something going on there.'

Yes, that'd be my radio ep as well, I think. Good call.

A bit of an obvious one but, WHTTLL 'No Hiding Place'. (Forget the awful Ant & Dec remake).

My favourite radio sitcom episode is probably "Fit the Fourth" from H2G2 - this is the episode which first revealed the ultimate answer to life, the universe and everything.

Ah, Hitch-Hikers. I always thought Fit the First contained some of the best British comedy writing of ever, like.

And some of the worst in the galaxy due to Vogon poetry.

Oh, I don't know, I'm quite partial to a bit of that!

So many to chose from. Probably go for Dad's Army- Operation Kilt, but also special mentions to The Wisdom of the Witch (One Foot in the Grave) and Friday the Fourteenth (Only Fools and Horses).
