Oh yes. I remember now. For some reason that reminded me of the couple on the estate in the League of Gentlemen who were always tearing each other to pieces.

TMWL is all a bit Emperor's New Clothes nowadays if you ask me. The "H" sketch was pretty good but the rest didn't deliver too much. It's been the same since series 1 - that was good, but everything since makes me wonder why people seem to like it so much.

I'm not sure they do. The consensus seems to be that it's very hit and miss, and has been from the start. But it does have the habit of pulling the odd brilliant sketch out of the hat.
I don't know if the radio show was first, but they probably had more material ready to use for the first series.
After that they had to try to think of new stuff, and it's not quite as strong.
The likes of Numberwang & the BMX bandit only had a limited shelf life.

I think all the series have been variable quality. Not sure any have shone above any others.
