The Old Guys - Series 2 Page 5

After a 26 hour drive what is the first thing you do?
Of course sit down and watch the first episode of the second series.

I haven't read the comments but felt it was watchable without being unmissable. Some nice gags, some not so. Where was Amber? Hoping for more episodes like the prostitute one in the last series.

It would be an artistic step backwards after all the quality work he does on those BT adverts. Whistling nnocently

Yeah, but don't you really want to know what happens next. Will the wedding happen? Or will she find out he has been watching porn on his stag night?

True but I honestly think he is sick of being Nick from My Family and going back would not be a good idea for him. I wouldn't mind seeing him back but I think he wouldn't.

Just watched it on iPlayer and it was only after I read the credits I realised that was Tessa Wyatt. I never recognised her.

But she's hardly changed at all!

All we need is a geriatric Superhans equivalent.

Why equivalent? Why not just lump Matt King straight in there as 'Superhans' in a storyline? That would be ace!

SUPERHANS:
You two remind me of somebody... Can't quite think who they are though. Anyway, look at this crocodile I bought off a bloke in the pub!

Dan

He could pass for about 60 anyway. ;)

A decent episode on Friday I thought. Though still for me up to now, the opening series looked a bit better though. So is Katherine Parkinson going to be coming back?
But some nice jokes in it. Nice to have a more traditional sitcom on the go aswell.

Another good show. The core relationship is very engaging.

I thought Friday's episode was superb. Lots of great lines delivered by two actors who have really settled into their roles.

Yes, the similarities to Peep Show are strong, but I think there's room for Peep Show AND a more mainstream, and more importantly, cleaner version here.

I love the glimpses into how obsessive the guys are about Sally. I loved the throwaway line about how Roy keeps the wrapper from Sally's biscuit in his "box of precious things".

Top marks from me!

So is Katherine Parkinson going to be coming back?

Yes, both Justin Edwards and Katherine Parkinson are going to be in this series. Parkinson has been busy filming The IT Crowd and The Great Outdoors so I guess she could only do an episode or two this time (for some reason The Old Guys is filmed in Scotland, even though the cast all come from London - quotas I guess)

The theme tune is starting to grow on me a bit this series. I hated it when I first heard it, but it isn't too bad at the minute. Have they mildly changed it at all from the opening series?

I think it is different.

They've changed it quite a lot actually. Re-recorded the whole track as far as I can make out. I've not been back and checked, but IIRC Series 1 had only Roger Lloyd-Pack singing it, whilst Series 2 has the both of them taking alternate verses.

I don't like the new one.

I don't like the new one.

I think it's better than that one from last year, I quite like the part when Clive Swift says 'I'll punch the man who says I'm not' yet both of them are hardly what you could call 'good' are they?
