Was this a series? An episode? A special? HELP!!

Hi all,

I came here because I couldn't remember the name of a show I used to watch (turned out to be "Screaming." Thanks, everyone!!) And I've been engrossed in these threads. Maybe you can help me with MY little mystery?! It's been driving me nuts for years.

I'm going to say late 80s/very early 90s. An elderly couple either moves to or holidays in France (for some reason I keep thinking Provence). I can't remember if it was an entire series, an episode of one or a special. It wasn't French Fields, and it wasn't the One Foot in the Grave Algarve special.

All I remember is that I laughed 'til I cried.

Does anyone else remember this show?

Yes, it didn't do too well. I think the Beeb had high hopes, and it was hyped to the hilt, but it never quite delivered. I never watched it, I'm afraid.

I do remember watching something as a child where a middle-aged couple talked incessantly about Provence.

It wasn't A Year in Provence... that was made after I left the UK (I left in 1992) and this show was on when I was still there. And it wasn't particularly high-minded at all. LOL

If even the panel is stumped, I suppose it will either remain a mystery or I imagined the whole the flamin' thing!!!

Hmm... sounds like a possibility, but I don't recall the man being Arthur Daley!! Surely I'd remember that. I think it was a "One Foot in the Grave" type couple, but... UGH, I just cannot remember anything besides how hard I laughed.

This site is still a godsend, though.
