After seeing Moss on the IT Crowd drop his phone down there, what have you ever had the misfortune to see drop into the bowl and has given you second thoughts whether you should leave it there or frantically reach in and pull it out?
I once dropped a pouch of Tobacco down there but thankfully got it out in time before it got wet!
Mobile phone is the worst thing for me. Was on NYE 2001. It didn't work again. Actually, I could make calls on it, but no one could hear me.
Whole toilet rolls mainly
A bottle of ou de toilette, which it was afterwards.

Well, the worst thing I've had 'dropped' down the toilet...
I had my head pushed down one which had just been used for it's normal purpose... No.2's ...I recall well and it was the longest time to the merciful flush... Grammar school days! 
Retribution was had.
I'm very careful around toilets. What sort of idiot stands over a toilet juggling their valuables? 
It wasn't ME juggling with MY valuables!

Ah, but I'll bet such experiences ca be turned into Comedy Gold, you lucky thing.
And of course this could be a thing of the past with squatting toilets.
(That doesn't mean you can live there.)
My mobile phone. Ruined it was. It fell out of my pocket as I pulled my trousers back up. So it fell in a lot of nasty shit.
It's probably used to have shit down it though.
