Bewitched I can understand, but Dharma and flipping Greg? How is that a concept that needs to be 'remade'? What was different about it? Wasn't it just 2 people who lived together?

I've never seen it. But, I presume, if you re-make something it also allows you to copy the jokes you like. Saves writing a whole new set of scripts from scratch when you have tried-and-tested ones already written for you (but, of course, we all know that American studio audiences and UK ones don't always laugh at the same things... so perhaps that's why re-makes keep failing)

Ah, you can use the scripts, I forgot that. That does make a bit more sense!

From what I remember, it was about two people who get married after more or less just meeting, then, 'hilariously', it turns out she's very odd and upsets his life a bit, as he's quite straight. Or something like that.

I remember she was a big hippy and he was all rich and posh and stuff.

I don't remember enjoying it in particular.

So a show's creators really do have some clout, and it seems, with this show, some integrity as well!

They do in this case, but probably only because Dan Clark, created, writes, co-directed (S1) and produces it. I would also guess that he has close ties to the production comapny (it's not a BBC-made show). If he was only a writer he'd probably have little say.

I didn't mind it but then I'll watch anything, I liked all those ones they used to show in the daytime, Spin City, Veronica's Closet, Caroline in the City.

Ahem, oops, back to How Not To Live Your Life!

As evidence by Simon and Jessica, and Spaced being sold without even their knowledge. :(

Yes, what Matthew said. I doubt they'd have been transferring much past the central plot: man and woman marry on the day they meet, and although they love each other they find their lives are quite different indeed. There's a lot of scope there.

I liked all those shows you just mentioned to different extents, yeah. Veronica's Closet the most for some reason.

It'll be interesting to see what an American version of this show would be like, whether it would have to be toned down at all; or the lead character made less twatty, for instance, more obviously likeable.

This starts a run on BBC2 this Friday at 10pm. Same time as IT Crowd, but if you haven't seen it, then I urge you to do so, because it's VERY GOOD INDEED!

Funny how things fall under the radar. Watched this for the first time then sought out the first series. Very good, and like the recurring lists idea.

I've just caught up with this too and I think it's fab so far, a little weak on the script in patches, but the concept is great, the acting is good and seeing his different thoughts gives it that special something that marks it out from others. Not the most intensely funny sitcom ever but it's passable and it has a nice cosy feel to it and has proper stories, like good sitcoms do. Much better than The IT Crowd, which looks like a mess to me.

I really liked both the first and second series of this (of course it helps, from a male point of view, that the main female characters in both series are absolutely gorgeous).

Dan Clark and David Armand are brilliantly funny together, don't really know why this show didn't take off.

I thought it did pretty well? I missed the first series, but watched and really liked the second series. And, although we shouldn't read to much into what the lumpen BCG fools think, reaction here was pretty good.

I assume if BBC Two are showing peak time repeats it's got a third series? Hope so.

It has. I think it's currently filming.
