There was a strong sense of deja vu with a lot of it.

I suppose each generation of 'Footlights' that manages to get on TV brings with it the same basic ideas.
Either that or, like pop music, the sketch-format is dead.
I'd be willing to bet that some of the facts about the size and scale of the laboratoire in the Garnier sketch are real.
I'm going to check.

Never!

Garnier's laboratoire does indeed have 3,000 researchers. But the "521 patents" referenced appears to be based on the 529 patents that were applied for in 2005 alone! L'oreal, which owns Garnier, has over 3,800 patents in the US.

So I was right.
You all owe me a fiver.
Loved the Garnier sketch but the rest left me cold.

Well...not 'dead' then.
But certainly looking a bit tired at the moment.
I think the most interesting thing about last night was (as has already been mentioned) seeing the very funny 'Caesar 3rd person' sketch flop miserably when transferred from radio to TV.
Seeing DM blowing on the reed removed almost all the fun of it.

It would certainly be nice to see a few fresh sketch shows that tried to do something a bit new.
Very disappointing. I was amazed when the sign language sketch came on because I'd aborted a similar idea after seeing something very similar on No Signal. The iBag sketch seemed a bit old as well, with so many piss-takes already out there.
Good on the whole - I especially like the Hennimore sketch because it was not that obvious what was going to happen.
I wasn't that keen on the "I don't know what you want anymore" sketch mind.
Some very clever and funny stuff in the show, I dread to think how long the "Ceaser" sketch took to write and film and I really liked the sketch about the vocabulary pedant, however, I think Hennimore is the new Ed Winchester.

Want another series of Scallywagga, eh?
Or 'The Wrong Door'.
Or Shoot The Writers?
