Can anyone recommend me a good internet phone?

Please don't recommend me an iPhone or a Blackberry. I've heard you have to charge iPhones loads, which I can't be bothered with (that and I hate touchscreen!), and I've heard the Blackberry browser isn't all that great.

Any other good so-called "smart phones" I might be missing? I've bee recommended a Tmobile G1 and a Samsung Jet so far - anyone know much about either of those?

If you don't like touchscreens, you've cut out most options right there. With regard to charging, web browsing is inherently pretty power-hungry, so you'll be charging up no matter what you end up with.

For what it's worth, I love my HTC Touch Diamond2.

Trouble is, to get a decent browser and decent size view you probably do want a touch screen phone. Or one with a slide out keyboard like the Nokia N97. I don't know if that's any good, the two versions before it were apparently mildly shit.

I have a HTC Touch HD which is pretty good - lovely big bright high def screen which is great for viewing full web pages. Only real annoyance is that websites keep insisting on showing me the mobile phone version instead of the real one. Probably just me not finding the right setting somewhere.

Aaron is right - any internet use will munch through your battery. Slightly less so if you can find a wifi hotspot to do it through though.

Turn the screen brightness down on an iPhone and you'll only need to charge it every 15 minutes.

I only get Amazon doing that. VERY f**king annoying, but doesn't occur very often at all. Gmail defaults to a mobile thing, but you can go into the standard HTML easily.

Yeah, you can change pretty easily on most of them, I just find it very annoying having to, particularly on Google and ebay.

I've got an Nokia E-72 was that wise?

I want one which can have an app to allow me to process credit card transactions. I know the iPhone does it, but it's a tad pricey...

HTC Desire it's monumentally great.

So I've heard. My brother's had one for ages (he gets them early to play about with before they come on the market) and has been raving about it.

I was considering getting one but I decided that it wasn't £300 better than my current phone, especially as my Touch HD now runs both Windows Mobile and Android.

Cool

Good as it maybe on my pay monthly package it cost about twice as much as my E-72

And where as I'm sure it's faster and more instictive. Is it really twice as good?
