A good script editor/producer can sometimes help to really improve a writers script, however.

No. A lot of writers are idiots that don't know what's good for them. They need somebodys foot on their neck.

Maybe if Moffat and the other writers on Doctor Who were given a little less respect and instead somebody saying, "This doesn't work, do it again", then maybe we the viewer would have had a better show.

How do you know that the shows other producers don't do that very thing?

Yeah the show runners give themselves plenty of respect - do they give the other writers. What happened to Stephen Fry's script by the way Matthew. I'm sure you'll be taking this oquestion from Chip in due course.

I'm not going to tell you now.
*Juts out bottom lip*
Well that's just mean.

Never - EVER - try to predict what's in the Mind of Chip. That's bordering on blasphemy.

Err I was saying hat he would answer your question which I see he did.
Quote: catskillz @ July 9 2010, 7:28 PM BSTI take it the writers above have all got agents?
Nope.
Quote: David Bussell @ July 11 2010, 10:39 PM BSTNope.
Maybe they are secret agents.
Quote: David Bussell @ July 11 2010, 10:39 PM BSTNope.
In that case, can you recommend a good Production Company that will accept unsolicited scripts?

I also see I put that comment after I had myself asked a question, and can therefore now see how some confusion may have arisen.

I think there's a thread on that somewhere here. Best thing to do if at all possible is to make some kind of personal contacts. Tricky I know.
How long have you found personal contact tricky, Marc?
I can contact people alright, it's when I open my mouth the problems start.

I can't, simply because sending scripts to prod cos has got me absolutely nowhere to date. If I were you I'd think about other ways to make contact. Join writers groups, soak up information from your peers, win competitions, produce your own web content, produce your own pilot, learn some industry skills other than writing (directing/editing/acting/stand up etc). If you've been sending scripts out cold for years with no success then you should figure out how else you can get on the industry radar.
