Not sure if it's already been mentioned but I thought the window cleaner's mumbling was quite lazy. Could have worked in some other way but this was just lazy setup. Plus, the bit where he said he's been run over.

Nah f**k him.

Yeah. I didn't get that bit. Did I miss something?

Who wants first dibs?

You were supposed to think you couldn't understand him because he was muffled by the window, but then when he came in he had exactly the same muffled, garbled voice.
Ah right. I get it now. I think I was preparing some crumpets whilst that was going on.
Quote: Godot Taxis @ July 3 2010, 6:54 PM BSTAs I understand it people just want some IT activity each episode not techie jokes about C++ and MySQL. Just to give the comedy some focus. The programme after all is set in an IT support department.
The weird thing is this is actually a huge potential source of comedy since it enables the characters to travel all over the building and interact with lots of new people. Linehan used it effectively in the first series when he had Roy trapped under a desk and Jen and Moss having to rescue him.
Couldn't agree more with this.
I did a review on it mainly for fun, if anyone wants to read it then here's a link.
(I asked if I was allowed to post on another shows thread and they said it was okay. If you don't want to then just skip it, but if you do then thanks.)

Exactly. If Lineham needs some IT situation plots to rework for the IT crowd, there are a large number here: http://www.theregister.co.uk/odds/bofh/
Not all are suitable of course, but there must be some gems in there.

Yeah, I got that and that was a fine joke. But the joke seemed wasted here.
I have lots of friends that work in IT and showed them some of my most favourite episodes. One commented about the lack of IT material in the show. The others didn't like it at all. But my friend Jeff was spot on when he said that the show was totally correct in the complete social ineptness that most IT workers seem to suffer from, and from an American point of view that's what really makes it work.
I can't wait till I can see the episodes.

Exactly, that's what it's about. I seem to remember Linehan got the idea when he met with an IT guy who was, I think, at his house fixing his computer. It was the blokes character, not specifically his day to day duties, that got him thinking. Sure, it'd be nice to have more actual job related things going on, there must be a wealth of potential humour to mine there, but I don't think that's really ever been what the shows about. That's how I've always seen it anyway, but each to their own.
Jeff has no social skills at all and if he dressed like Moss it would be a major upgrade. His boss is a Jen type that knows nothing about IT at all and is constantly breaking things. He thinks it's very funny but at times hits too close to home.
I can't say I really have a problem with the lack of IT content in the show. It reminds me of George Costanza in Seinfeld. None of the jobs he ever did seemed remotely realistic or believable. He worked for the New York Yankees and I still have no idea what he did there.

He built a little den under his desk.
