Scene 1
It is a retirement party. A table is set up on the stage, behind which the speaker – a tall, fat, suited man – is standing, along with several seated guests. Several full tables are arranged in front of the stage.

So we'd like to say goodbye to Bob, our bravest and best human cannonball, who shot to success, burst into the limelight and now retires to rearm himself. For fourty years, Bob, we thank you. Let's help him go out with a bang!
There is much laughter. Bob - a small, skinny man next to the speaker – gives a comical bow.
Scene 2
Bob is walking into his flat; a well furnished middle class home. He walks over to the armchair, sits down and picks up a picture of himself poking out of a cannon. He smiles and puts down the picture, before looking about himself awkwardly. There are then scenes of him attempting to read, write and play chess by himself, looking more and more bored. Eventually we see him tying lighters to his shoes, and hooking string around them so that he can ignite them with a pull. He walks into the kitchen and turns on the gas before sitting at the table. He then walks to the oven, turns round and jumps, feet towards the gas rings. He tugs on the lighter strings as he jumps, and there is a tremendous explosion, as the camera is cast into blackness. There are shrill screams and sirens in the distance. Home camera images show the cameraman running into the room, to see charcoal black surfaces, shattered furniture and the Human Cannonball stuck in the opposite wall.
