'90s thread Page 3

I quite liked Pearl Jam. Especially when Jeremy spoke in class. I often wonder what he said.

The '70s were the ugliest by far. Horrible beardy men in bright orange and brown flares and beads, and then silver tight catsuits, huge hairy sideburns and massive platforms. Jesus bloody Christ, no.

The '70s were great for music and clothes. These guys were so badass they even made the flute sound cool: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UB0tzvS-790

I know the 80s is having a revival these days but I thought the Music & fashion were generally awful.
The 90s were a definite improvement.

All I remember about the 90s was power rangers, stone washed Denim and wet look hair.

I didn't think there was "Fashion" in the 90s.

It wasn't all like that. Danish band The Walkers were leading exponents of cool fashions and hairstyles: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5kBF8cByIY

As for fashions of the 1990s, I have no recollection of what was or wasn't cool. I already had my boring uniform of boring black suit for work and outside of work it was black stovepipe jeans, Doc boots, faggy black or purple silk shirts (or old T-shirts) and black leather jacket (or sometimes purple suede corduroy jacket). The 90s? I think I mostly just wore a blue checked sarong and a cigarette holder.

It was all very bright colours in the '90s, and like someone said, white jeans. And boxy shapes. And boys all had curtains.

Think Color Me Badd!

Yeah, what was the deal with those wet hairstyles that were just combed down flat, onto the forrid?

Nah, that was just the people who were stil stuck in the 80s.

The biggest trend of the 90s was minimalist; lots of black, nude and neutral colours, simple shapes, bootleg trousers, etc. It was all about being 'tasteful'.

The other look was grungey; slip dresses, baggy and torn trousers. Also in the mid to late 90s denim made a huge comeback with new Levi's lines like the twisted jeans.

ie, all the losers on telly in the early '90s! :D

Oh yes, grunge. I done that I did.

Short flowery dress, light blue denim jacket, big DMs.
And those baggy checked shirts everyone had. Or do I mean plaid?

Yeah, up until about '92 we were mostly still very 80s.

I was always more into that sort of look. Got stopped in Covent Garden once by a reporter from Radio 1 to 'describe' my grungey look. Rolling eyes My only comment in the mic was that it was "a media invention".

I also remember wearing a lot of Vivienne westwood type platform shoes and boots, with knee length socks and tartan miniskirts.

That's how I imagine a BCG meetup.

Wicked-bad! Cool

Most people tried to dress like they were in Oasis. But ended up looking like they where not even good enough to be in Northern Uproar

Talking of the nineties. And denim (we were, earlier). You'd be hard pressed to find a better band than Denim. Like Pulp, except they never hit the big time they deserved.
