Phil

How much are you looking to pay? Would you be owning the exclusive rights to the song?

Hi David

I pay the going rate, however, always willing to negotiate :)

Rights would also form part of the negotiations.

Phil

By comedy songs, I assume you mean original compositions?
(and not parody songs, e.g. topical parodies of known songs)

I would think he means either - at least I hope so.

What is the going rate for a comedy song, these days?

what is it for, and what type of stuff are you looking for?

I have done some in the past with my band when we are messing around in rehearsals. sort of along the lines of Half Man Half Biscuit, not sure if that is what you would be looking for.

The only one I've ever written is the 'No Blues Blues'.

What's the going rate? Is it per song? Because that would be great as my song is only about 30 seconds long, depending on how much of a fretboard wanker the guitarist is.

All us guitarists are potential fretboard wankers, probably because guitars are such obvious penis substitutes.

Unless the request here was for a performance of the song, I'd have thought that a comedy song would be no different to comedy verse, unless the actual music played a significant comic role. Like in the Pachelbel rant:

Just watched this, you have to have seen the Pachabel Rant first I guess -which is a brilliant comedy song! And this is a brilliant response. :)

Mikey

As long as the material in good and funny then all is good!

Open to ideas.

Preferably, hilariously funny, modern and an attention grabber :D

Thanks for the clarification on everything Phil. Good luck with everything for you with it all.

Hey,
Here is one of my comedy songs. If you like it I may even try and remember the chords.

The Railway Song

I work for the railway

sometimes have to stay away

I get home when I can

found her with the milkman

"What you doing "? I cried out

"Hello, honey... please don't shout"

Don't you worry it's ok

We will get free milk today"

took the dog for a walk

met a friend, we had a talk

i got home, you should have seen her

now, she's with the window cleaner

Soon she's earning more than me

for doing what comes naturally

she's upstairs working hard

queue of men in my backyard

don't work the railways anymore

stay at home, answer the door

now the only bit I hate

is if she's sick, I take her place
