Newsjack - Series 3 Page 14

Yeah, a machine that shreds all our writings the instant they arrive in the newsjack inbox and spies on us in the shower.

I wouldn't worry too much about that auto reply.

Think of Mr Failed Comedy Writer who, in The 90's, had to risk posting his material via Royal Mail.

And some organisations still want stuff posted. Which millenium are they living in?

Isn't the autoreply an 'out of office' message and thus only sends to each recipient once? i.e. if they've not turned it off since last week and you got it last week, you won't get it again.

Dan

Don't think so. I submitted stuff in a couple of batches last week, so was getting quite familiar with their out of office message.

I was almost starting to look forward to hearing from them.

I submitted vox pops and news bullets last week and got an email from a real person telling me they weren't looking for news bullets this series.

There was a bit of a write-up for writing for Newsjack in The Sunday Times' 'Culture' section's Radio Waves bit on the inside back cover.

If anyone's interested.

Dan

Well I can take comfort in the fact that no one else seems to have received an auto reply message this week either. Last week I got one after I sent my sketches and one after my vox pops so I guess they have taken it off as I haven't had a bounce back - and believe me I've checked that I sent it to the right address a number of times.

I managed to write three sketches again although I thought I would struggle initially. They are vaguely topical. I'm not sure they'll cut the mustard though, last weeks' show was very good, better than Friday's Now Show I thought.

Save me searching it out. What was the gist?

I've just received an auto-reply for my sketch submission, only took 17 hours :)

"There's this topical show and you can write for it. Woohoo!"

Tbh, I reckon it's not aimed at your sort of 'already sort of a writer-type' ;)

Only 10 hours delay for me. Perhaps - just perhaps - they're keen on my material this week.

I just got my auto reply. It could be that it's set up as a client side rule on outlook which would mean that someone would have to be physically logged into the account before the response would be sent.

Or they could have work experience boy doing it one by one.

Ah ha I have also now received an automate reply @ 6:46pm
Very odd. Maybe the bbc server has been down?

Shoved five wafer thin slices of processed vox pop down the Newsjack gob hole.
