The England Thread... Page 4

The best England team I've watched was the Italia '90 side. Think about it, the midfielders and fowards alone were all amazing: Robson (before he was injured), McMahon, Platt, Waddle, Barnes, Gazza, Beardsley and Lineker.

They were good on paper, but they only played well against Germany.
Despite having the best player in the whole tournament:
They were awful in the group stages, lucky against Belgium & outplayed ny Cameroon.

The Euro 96 team looked dangerous.

As did the Euro 2004 team when Rooney was emerging.

I don't think he wanted to leave either.
But the suits decided that his reputation was unseemly & they brought Graham Taylor in.

I'm no footy expert, but wasn't Taylor before Venables??

Oh yeah, I was gonna say they were the best on paper, but forgot. They also had Trevor Steven, who was an Everton legend, and was later part of the legendary early-'90s Marseille side with Chris Waddle, Jean Pierre Papin and Abedi Pele. I think Cantona was there around that time as well.

Correct! Sunshine fail!

Doesn't he play snooker??

I used to love Waddle
If only that shot hadn't hit the post & come back out.
Germany hit the post as well though.

And he tried a long ranger that would have been one of the all time best goals had it gone in.
but there was a foul anyway, so it wouldn't have stood ,but what vision.

Oh yeah.
Oops.

Well he rescued England from Taylorgate & left Hoddle a good legacy, which he squandered with his craziness.

It's one of my favourite all time nearly best ever goals that wouldn't have stood anyway because there was a foul.

I wonder how high his penalty would have gone if they were using the Jabulani?

Waddle actually had a Gazza-like reputation when he played in France. I think his nickname was "Le Clown".

Laughing out loud I would be one of the most attractive women in the world if I was a very attractive woman.

Are you pissed?

Not sure If I'm looking forward to the Slovenia Match today.
Is it too much to ask we get lucky & score a few early goals.

Yes.

I thought it was.

The England team went to visit an orphanage in South Africa this morning
"It felt so good to put a smile on the faces of people with no hope, constantly struggling and facing the impossible", said Jamal Umboto aged 6
