Hi, I'm keen to have a shot at doing an open mic slot. Are there any popular ones in the North East of England? I've never been to see one, so I have no idea what to expect. Any experiences you'd care to share? Either as an audience member or up on stage.
Open mic anyone?
Moving to Writers' Discussion.
Thanks, that would explain the overwhelming response to my post. I mean, what was I thinking discussing open mic sessions in the stand up sub-forum!!?? And in case you haven't grasped it yet; which wouldn't surprise me, I'm being sarcastic.

I've no real experience of the North East "scene" although I've gigged at Middlesbrough Town Hall and a couple of places in Newcastle.
The only clubs I know who might have open spots are http://www.thelaughingpenguin.co.uk and http://www.thegrinningidiot.com/
Send them an email.
Thanks I'll check them out. If they prove to be dead ends I'll just put myself down for The Apollo.
