The Expendables

I don't know if any of you have heard of this upcoming movie, but if you haven't I'll give you a little overview. I am a massive action fan, so this for me was one of the biggest things that could ever happen in terms of film and I have seen movies by every one of the action heroes in this movie.

The basic idea was that Sylvester Stallone got together with Jason Statham and Jet Li to make a movie about a team of mercenaries trying to overthrow a dictator. The team would be known as The Expendables. As the movie was developed in post production another shit load of action heroes were added to the list... I know some of you might be skeptical and think action movies are dumb, Sly is too old to be an action hero and you can't take him seriously but I think he proved with Rocky Balboa and Rambo that he's still in the game and this being a comedy forum I'm sure you guys will appreciate the slightly self-mocking tone it seems in places and for fans of movies like Rambo, Predator, Die Hard, The Transporter etc, it will be a nice throwback to the 1980s as well as combining some of the more modern traits of action movies such as UFC fighting. Here is the trailer and a quick cast list.

Sylvester Stallone
Jason Statham
Jet Li
Dolph Lundgren
Mickey Rourke
Steve Austin
Randy Couture
Terry Crews
Gary Daniels
Arnold Schwarzenegger
Bruce Willis

Finally, what do you guys think?

Rambo 4 was a great film so I'm really looking forward to this. I saw the Losers a few weeks ago which has pretty much the same storyline and was a tonne of fun.

Shame there's no Van Damme, Seagal, Busey or Chuck Norris, fingers crossed for a sequel!

Haha, looks fun.

That is a pretty hilarious cast list!
Does look quite fun.

Thanks for the replies everyone, the reason, believe it or not, apart from James Bond being cool, for me getting into action movies was watching Frank Spencer and being amazed at the stunts.

Sounds like the Dirty Dozen - Wild Geese.

Not interested in that sort of thing though.

I was about to say that the only action hero missing was Michael Crawford.
:D

When I was a kid I wanted to be either a comedian or a stunt man. Luckily for my I look pretty f**king funny falling down a flight of stairs.

From what I've heard, you grease your gullet and slip the filthy stuff deep down.

I came to the Expendables thread to talk about a different kind of hard man, sir. I bid you farewell!

Such sexual tension! Perhaps a BCG f**k party should be arranged? Chip would rampage through that event like a messed up bear.
