Doctor Who... Page 534

Haggard was nice. But she'll look funny when she's fifty. And forty.

I don't get what the attraction is with her, really.

She's got that Sexy Nerd thing.

Just remembered what that crack reminds me of.

Two strong ideas played all the way through.

1 Simple monster, a haunted staircase.

2 What would the Dr be like as a flatmate.

Matt Smith is genius at comedy and would make a fab Q in the Bond films (or a new Harry Palmer). I think the whole episode was a subtle mickey take on The Family of Blood.

And Corden didn't mug, didn't go for comedy. he acted and was ace and was proof that a straight man can be every bit as important as the none straight. I really liked his sad, schlub who was redeemed.

Ooh, good call on the crack.

It was a mickey take of a lot of New Who I think. The Doctors response after the "We're going to annihilate them" line is the funniest thing I've ever seen in Doctor Who, I was literally on the floor. It's great to have a show so refreshingly take the mick out of itself.

That was a lovely line.

The sonic toothbrush was an ace gag.

I have a suspicion that the utter daftness of the big bad was something of a joke as well.

There were loads of great one-liners in this ep.

"I'm good at fixing rot, call me the Rotmeister. No, I'm the Doctor, don't call me the Rotmeister."

Doesn't look great on paper, but Smith totally sells it. I was absolutely wrong about him.

Makes you appreciate how lousy the Van Gogh ep was.

"In space only other people in your spaceship can hear you scream"???

What a terrible tag line! I thought it was, "In space nobody can hear you scream"?

Ha, it is.

I'm warming to that one a bit. Lose the lousy monster nonsense and it was quite emotive.

If they'd played up the theme of the Dr as the man who can slay pretend monsters, but can't save a real person....

Matt Smith is quite brilliant as the Doctor.

Pretty good episode. Matt Smith is excellent.

Ending was soft. But it was good in general.
