I was thinking of making a bunch of homemade pizzas, veggies and dip, and gooey chocolate chip cookies...is that good for TV viewing?

There's no set meal for watching football, so I'd go with whatever your kids like. 
I didn't think so, but some people here are so picky about their food when sports are on.

Yeah, I can't stand our football. We watch soccer on a station here that plays mostly Manchester united, city, Celtic, and a few others. The kiddoes are totally hooked.

I went to buy a 240v->12v lighting transformer. I bought a few odds & ends and some nutty chocolate and I ate a lot of Swedish meat balls.
See, where Ikea are missing a trick (and I give this to them free if they're reading this) is that they are employing local women in their shops instead of bringing over some 6'4" Swedish blond sorts !
