They have to take responsibility for what they are about to do.
Join in this crap and you will give them an excuse to say 'Well, you wanted it.'

I'm not sure how the consultation idea will work (have only seen the headlines), but will certainly take part if there's a reasonable opportunity to. It's the nation's collective responsibility due to how we vote and how the Government ends up anyway.
Don't forget my Tory Cuts thread Old Rocker if you want to lay into these millionaire scumbag twats:
Cuts are the best. Especially when they leave Northerners and single mothers destitute!

Indeed !
Just to be safe I'll put this in both http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/politics/article7133943.ece
Absolutely agree with this thread. When people lobby all the Cinderella services like mental health, tax office, special needs education take a bath.
And then there's endless moning that no one can do your tax return right and the streets are full of homeless mentally ill types.
Take responsibility Dave.
For those who are moaning about cuts. I'm assuming that you have a solution to the problem which, as you don't want cuts, must mean generating more income.
How?
They could start by cutting all money from the taxpayer which goes to the Royal family.
Tricky one. I agree that politicians should take on the responsibility but I think there's some merit in asking what real people think. I can see loads of instances of waste at the sharp end that I could understand would be missed from a Whitehall review.
I don't know how often some of our local junctions have their layouts changed, traffic lights come and go, roundabouts are reprofiled and speed limit restrictions move on an almost annual basis.
Each year I get 2 or 3 tax code notifications, all different, between January and the new tax year, despite no change to my salary or circumstances.
We had new white lines painted on our street then the whole thing was re surfacded a couple of weeks later and the lines painted again.
There are loads of examples that really get my goat. Do we really need every piece of local govt information to be available in 48 languages?
And don't even get me started on the millions of pounds worth of burocracy between hospitals and the Dept of Health. Primary Care Trusts? Strategic health Authorities? I understand the principle but for the most part, they don't actually work and, very generally speaking, are heavily populated with people who have been 'moved' up because they were too expensive to sack.
There is money to be saved all over the place, they just need to know where to look.
And they could introduce a Premiership Footballer Tax.
If you think this consultation will affect any of these valid concerns. Then nope no way, that's just the ineffincey natural to any large organisation.
What it will mean is slashing funding for mental health units (which nimbys will love), job creation schemes, youth clubs (those nimbys again)
We vote for strong politicians of vision willing to make the hard decision. Enoch Powell, Bevin, Churchill etc none of them needed an ego boosting consultancy to do 'da business.

A cheaper solution would be to use volunteers from the community, both to translate and teach English. With perhaps some payment or credit for university or something.
I've had real problems recruiting bilingual care staff/class room assisstants etc. As translation is better paid.
Meaning for a lot of work you have to pay 2 people to do 1 job. Translation good, blanket funding bad.
One thing the Conservatives are right about is the welfare state mixed with paranoia about abuse. Is short circuiting peoples natural caring urges and sense of community.

Do they not pay tax then?
Do their clubs not pay 12.8% National Insurance?

No, you're right, let's f**k over pensioners instead.
Oh I am sick of pensioners always being held up as paragons of woe.
You didn't pay enough in your pension while you were working? Well though I understand B&Q still have posts for people to wander round and talk about how much better nails were in the 1950s.
They're not being f**ked over they're getting a huge slice of your taxes. And the proposed national care agency would have f**ked over care provision for alot of disabled people.
Pensioners are like some sort of money hungry terrorist groups (at least the feckless bastards who didn't save).

Isn't that the point? We should be focussing on inefficiencies and not cutting funding to front line services? I know we can't get all of them, but accepting them from the outset is not right either.
