Rarely is the top scorer from the winners. In fact I think it's only Kempes in 78 and Ronaldo in 2002 that have achieved the feat in the last 48 years

Agreed. I'm just looking for some 'goalscorer value' really. I.e. strikers that are gonna go deep into the comp. I actually think Torres at 12/1 is huge. Especially given Spain play Switzerland and Honduras in the group stage; plenty of goals there.
Who's your money on, Tuumble?
I'd not given it huge thought actually but I think Villa and Torres are a good bet for the reasons you describe.
I've just used the BBC predictor thing and I'm beginning to think that this World Cup might not turn out anything like we expect. How about this for a tasty set of quarter-finals...
England v Nigeria
Brazil v Netherlands
Argentina v Germany
Spain v Italy
I have a funny feeling that the Netherlands and Italy will scrape through and then it really will be wide open.

If England get the Netherlands that is certainly winable but should Nigeria get through we could get an African team in the final. Who gets through on the other side of the draw, God only knows but I wouldn't discount England against any of them should we get there.
That's if England even qualify from their group.
If they lose to the USA it might be tricky.
Ingerlund for the semi-finals and then getting beaten by somebody surprising and maybe a little embarrassing.

Even if we lose to America, I still think England will qualify from the group.
I can't see us dropping any points against Algeria or Slovenia. Six points will see us through, no problem.
For those who never saw it first time round...

Quote from Ferdinand on Rooney . . .
"I'm sure he's said a lot worse to other referees in Premier League games. Being here is magnifying things before the World Cup," Ferdinand said.
So that's all right then.
Cretin.
Quote: Chappers @ June 7 2010, 1:49 AM BSTI see they're dropping like flies.
Mikkel, Essien, Ferdinand, maybe Drogba, maybe Robben, that New Zealannd bloke and also a couple of others.
Also Ballack, and, I've just heard, Portugal's Nani is out as well. Nice.

It's because Ferguson's his manager and encourages and condones disrespect towards the officials.
Rooney really is an awful role model and needs to understand that he's not some untouchable god. Sure he's got a bit of talent but it doesn't make him a better person than anyone else.
He's got to learn to control himself or he'll be seeing a red card again.

Can you blame him?
I wouldn't imagine it was a hard decision, no.
Bought a 1966 replica shirt recently ...
Reckon I'll get four 'wears' out of it before England are back on the plane.
Love that.
