Sad gits. (Most of the posters at the bottom). Drama is suppose to shock. The character that they killed wasn't even that good IMO.

The Torchwood panel from Comic Con is on YouTube. It's really funny when when are group of girls start shouting "bring back Ianto" and RTD totally shoots them down. (Not literally of course.)

Actually, yeah, I agree with you. By RTD standards it was pretty good.

It takes a lot to get me to stop watching a scifi show once I've started. Only two have managed it in recent years, the new V and Torchwood series two.

It needs to make its mind up whether it's for grown-ups or not. The mini-series showed encouraging signs in the right direction.

RTD Agrees with you:

"It's very much the next step. It's not a new version, it's not a reboot. We're simply moving countries. The show was previously a format show -- monster of the week. The breakthrough was "Children of Earth" and that it became one long story. It's not going to be 'Lost' and take 20 years to find out what's going on. It's going to have a most remarkable conclusion after 10 episodes.

We're simply going to tell a good story. I wrote the pilot 7 months ago irregardless of network. BBC1 is a prime-time channel, but a brave channel. I don't worry about content."

Torchwood was clearly set in the Doctor Who universe, which is designed for kids. The miniseries moved away from that. Not entirely far enough, but close.

On the upside, non-miniseries Torchwood did at least casually dismiss the possibility of an afterlife in its very first episode, so I'm not expecting another massive FAIL moment in the finale

I sort of understood by that that the two meant the same thing almost, to him. That the format had set the tone. It certainly seems like it's a development on from that, rather than what had been before, that he's interested in exploring, which would be good news.

Torchwood's probably easier to enjoy than Doctor Who because it's not saddled with having to be family friendly and isn't weighed down with all the historical baggage and expectation. That said, RTD shouldn't diss Lost. I rather enjoyed the long journey.

Hmm, sort of wasn't worth it in the end though; I don't think the ending they presented was really satisfying in any way.
