I hope not. Due to Derrick Bird, for two nights Coronation Street has been postponed. Hasn't Bird got any morality.
I was chatting to my Dad earlier & apparently he used to know Bill Owens son when they were starting a squash club near our pub.
It was about the time the series was just beginning.
Did his son appear in some of the later episodes?
He did, Tom Owen was his name, he played his son in the show aswell, Tom Simonite.
I didn't quite realise how long it had been going for.
I remember it in the eighties, but I was surprised to see that Brian Wilde wasn't one of the original cast members.

He actually wasn't, he joined in the third series which was broadcast in 1976. The first two series starred Michael Bates as Cyril Blamaire, Bill Owen as Compo Simonite and Peter Sallis as Norman Clegg.
Who came up with the idea to axe the show? Stop trying to appeal to younger audiences all the time. What will they replace it with I wonder, yet another reality or so called celebrity show.
A classic sitcom that is loved and watched around the world, so the BBC kill the goose that laid so many golden eggs. Makes sense doesn't it NOT!

well put, forget Fools and Horses for me LOTSW is one of 3 classic sitcoms the BBC has produced, the other two being Open All Hours and Hancock's Half Hour IMO

No, I was just making the point that it is a bit patronising to say that the show is catering to old people. Not everyone loses their critical faculties when they start drawing the old age pension. It is, and has been for many years, lazily written dross. I am all for catering for an older demographic, but that does not mean serving them up warmed up leftovers.
