Am I right in thinking that Chortle is a financially professional affair, whereas BCG is manned by volunteers?
Steve Bennet, the guy behind Chortle, goes to a lot of gigs etc (I imagine as he writes reviews) and therefore will get inside info.
Do the BCG writers get PR releases, invited to press launches, etc? Getting on the PRs' radars would be a good way of getting news too.
From what I understand, the BCG is a non-profit organisation, so we make no money from it. Steve Bennett created Chortle and writes most of the reviews for it, but I don't know if he makes money from it.
In terms of PR releases, the only ones we tend to get (or at least I tend to get) are the BBC ones, and they are free to access for all from the BBC Press Office.
I've never been invited to a press launch, but that's probably because I live in Stockton-on-Tees and nobody can be arsed to travel up. Mark's from Hampshire, which is still probably too far for most Londoners. I don't know where Aaron lives.
