If you have a good story when Mark is busy or not around, I'm sure he wouldn't mind you forwarding it to me to post.

Really? I'll have to remember that. Cheers, Aaron.

Did you serve me at McDonalds the other day?

I don't even have a paid job mate. I'm waiting for my course to finish and for the BBC to FINALLY commission some of my stuff.

Yeah. There's the 'Who can stuff the most satsumas up Chipolata's arse' competition, for one.

Rolling eyes

John, John, John... What are we going to do with you? Hey?

That doesn't count. You just posted the news on the forum. I wrote up an actual news story.

News smoos. I win. Stop you blabbing. :P

Am I right in thinking that Chortle is a financially professional affair, whereas BCG is manned by volunteers?

Steve Bennet, the guy behind Chortle, goes to a lot of gigs etc (I imagine as he writes reviews) and therefore will get inside info.

Do the BCG writers get PR releases, invited to press launches, etc? Getting on the PRs' radars would be a good way of getting news too.

From what I understand, the BCG is a non-profit organisation, so we make no money from it. Steve Bennett created Chortle and writes most of the reviews for it, but I don't know if he makes money from it.

In terms of PR releases, the only ones we tend to get (or at least I tend to get) are the BBC ones, and they are free to access for all from the BBC Press Office.

I've never been invited to a press launch, but that's probably because I live in Stockton-on-Tees and nobody can be arsed to travel up. Mark's from Hampshire, which is still probably too far for most Londoners. I don't know where Aaron lives.

As far as I can tell, they do get invited to quite a lot of things.
Not that they always go. The lazy tikes.

Chortle makes more money than the BCG does, but both rely on outside income for the owners.

If he does, they don't go into stories!

Yes.
