Sure. There are lots of bad, dangerous and scary people here, but the average person has little exposure to them. The gang members and drug dealers and thugs pretty much stick to their own creepy neighborhoods. If they are bothering "regular" people in public they will get shut down quickly. I always think back about the 14-year-old kids I saw pissing on the wall of a train station (Reading?) and how the female cop reacted. She yelled at them and they told her to f**k off and carried on making pests of themselves. If that had happened in any city in the United States they would have been arrested for indecent exposure, disorderly intoxication, possession of alcohol by a minor and any other charge the cops could think of. Their smart mouths would also earn them less-than-gentle handling, too.
I don't worry about people who dress funny, talk funny, act like cretins, screw their cousins, live in mobile homes or eat opossum soup for dinner. All I'm concerned about is property damage, threatening behavior and/or violence. If the chavs or thugs or white trash aren't bothering me or anyone else I have no problem with them.
Whilst I hate London Underground most days of the week, I do like the Transport museum.
I am loaded with the cold this Bank Holiday so all plans are off

DaButt: 'Chav' is basically an acceptable way to refer to the working classes in a derogatory manner. It doesn't necessarily mean they're poor, nor that they're violent. Just that they're worth less than the rest of us.
