British Comedy Guide

Comedy locations

I was going to stick this in a specific Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin thread but there doesn't appear to be one for that specifically. Then I thought it might be good to get a thread with current shots from locations of old shows all in one place.

Last week I was in West Bay in Dorset which was used in the opening titles of Reggie. Unfortunately I didn't get the angle quite right but you'll get the picture...

Nice one. (Very expensive property prices in West Bay now. All the sailing events in the 2010 Olympics will be around there.)

I'm in the same bit of Bristol where the locations which were used as exterior shots for the students' house, the pub and the launderette in The Young Ones are. :)

But I haven't got any footage of them. Errr

I grew up near Pinewood, so dozens and dozens of locations were around. And now I live near Thamesmead, where Misfits is filmed.

I live very near where a lot of Dad's Army exterior stuff was done.

I used to live in the same street where the Minder Garage was and would see them filming quite often.
And I used to live near the flats they used for Nelson Mandela Towers in Acton.

And they once filmed parts of an episoe of Spaced in the building where I used to work.

We can see the old warehouse from Ashes to Ashes from our living room window.

I've been there too. Nice beach!
And apparently a popular suicide spot. Doubt it's because of Reggie though, more to do with the huge cliff.

Missus Leevil is in the background in an episode of Keeping Up Appearances when they filmed here at our local Debenhams.

In Brighton, film crews arrive constantly. It's hard to walk around here without being in the background of some film, party political rally or advert.

I live near the restaurant/ cafe that's in Lead Balloon! It's in Kensal Green and is called Gracelands.

I'm surprised you've not been in Lead Balloon, you-appearing-on-lots-of stuff-type-person-you. :D

I tell you what else has appeared in a lot of things - that coat of his. The one he's wearing in that avatar there. It's a bloody star - should have its own show by now.

Do you ever go that way theseadays? I think I heard a while ago that the old car lot has gone - something big built there now.

They knocked it down and turned it into flats ages ago.
I think the series was still on at the time so they may have used a different location towards the end.

I live in Widnes which is next to Runcorn where 2 Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps is filmed. If you walk for less than a minute to the bottom of my street and to the top of a small hill you can see both the Fiddlers Ferry Power Station and the Silver Jubilee Bridge (from the titles)

You can also jump on any bus to Runcorn and be outside the Archer (Waterloo) within 10 minutes.

Years ago I had a job interview in Birmingham and filming of a popular BBC show was taking place. I deliberately positioned myself in the background while they were filming in the hope of appearing a furure episode.

The show?
