Continuing Grave Irritation

CGI doesn't just piss you off? Ok a big film with a hundred million in effects is one thing. But endless scifi shows with increasingly annoying, unconvincing effects it just annoys. Not only does it generally look bad, but it encourages lazy script writing.

Why bother with tension or surprise when some spoddy geek with a dell can give you a 200 foot tall Trex (even if it looks shit).

I'll add examples when I can be bothered to look in YouTube.

I hate CGI.

No. The blanket CGI is bad blanket is really f**king annoying though since a good percentage of it is background stuff no one even notices. It's only the big over the top effects that let the side down and really it's not the effects guys fault, they work hard with time and resources given it's the script writers being lazy.

I hate CGI.

I don't know, I still enjoy CGI: Miami.

Miami or Las Vegas?

>_< CURSE YOU!

There was a really good Gulfwar drama on the BBC. Which was just spoiled by continual use of unconvincing big choppers.

I actually didn't get it until you joined in, so you worked as a team.

I get co-writer credit with Chip! Yes!

Additionally, I only just understood the title of the thread. >_<

It is particularly irritating on archaeology documentaries; "And this is what the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus would have looked like if it had been knocked up in an afternoon on an Apple Mac."

And they look unconvincingly clean and pristine.

I hate stuff that is entirely CG, and stylistically so. Toy Story, Shrek, that kind of thing. It's so cold.

But you like the cold. :P

I found Shrek totally cold. But did end up rather enjoying erm... the other one.

Er. Blue fluffy monster, little girl, lots of doors.

Um, oh Monsters Inc.
