I read the news today oh boy! Page 138

*biggest sigh and rolling of eyes in history of universe*

Well the survivors of July 7th and relatives of victims wanted 4 Lions banned in this country.

This kind of emotive it seems a bad idea thinking is a gateway to some scary places.

And for the final time. "NOT ALL MUSLIMS CELEBRATED SEPTEMBER 11TH"

The assumption that any mosque would automatically be a gloating celebration of terrorism. Is well dangerous. Dangerous and unfair.

It's not the mosque, it's the location of the mosque.

An analogy would be if the movie studio decided to hold the premiere at the victims' gravesite.

For the final time, "Nobody said they did."

Quote: DaButt @ May 26 2010, 7:22 PM BST

All the talk about peace and understanding is just that: talk. The same stuff is said about every mosque when it's discovered that their imams are preaching violent jihad and recruiting suicide bombers.

The Mosques where fundamentalists aren't welcome don't make the news.

The Mosques where fundamentalists aren't welcome don't make the news.

You can keep hammering on about every Muslim not being a fundamentalist and banning of mosques being wrong all you want, but you're arguing with the wrong person because I never claimed either of them were true. If you can't understand that building a huge mosque next to the site of the worst Islamic fundamentalist terror strike in history is a provocative and threatening act - despite what their public relations people may claim - then you are ignoring reality.

I'm proud of my service in the U.S. Army and as peaceful a person as you can find, but I wouldn't build a massive monument to the Army at My Lai unless I were trying to offend, infuriate and/or threaten someone. Even though the massacre was committed by a handful of soldiers among the millions who have served, I know it would be in poor taste and I wouldn't think of doing so even if I were legally allowed to do so.

How about if the US Army built a monument to the victims at Mi Lai?

Showing regret, but still wanting to be part of the narrative.

A lot of museums of the Holocaust are trying to incorporate studies of other genocides and stories from the persecutors.

A monument would be fine; an Army recruiting station would be insensitive. But we're not talking about a monument, we're talking about a massive mosque.

Actually, thinking about it - the people building it might not have any bad intentions whatsoever, but people who do will probably come from all over the world just to worship there and have a gloat.
Hmm.

They have no source of funding for the $100+ million-dollar project. Gee, I wonder if our pals the Saudis will step in ...

That or the world's most powerful Muslim BHOA

Hmm.

And I may use my new roof extension to wave my arse in the direction of the queen.
I hope you wouldn't have me arrested for treason.

Don't start on me! I'm just thinking out loud.

Which is never pretty.

I wasn't starting.

Jeez this place is more sensitive than paintballing with sunburned, albino, haemophiliacs.

If it's thirteen storeys high, can't DaButt crash a plane into it?

I was only joshing.

Mr Sensitive.

:)

Mr sensitive?

You know my escort name? Have you hired me? You weren't the woman with all the cats and the boy friend who lived in a cupboard?

Granted there are some areas of Islamic/Arab culture that are utterly screwy. How do you help people who watch this kind of thing?
