Even a change of colour scheme would be a start - make it look more like the BBC news website or something.

Unfortunately someone has already copied the BBC style. A site called newsarse uses the red and black colour scheme.

Although we have not advertised for writers directly on this site, we are always on the look out for talent. If you are interested in writing for http://dailyhubbub.co.uk visit the site and click on the write for us link. We do pay (a little) for any quality submission which gets published.

Sorry I am a little bit puzzled - whats the point of it all? You pay a little - you want quality material? I don't know - do some thing good or don't.

I hadn't stumbled across Newsarse yet but the fact it exists is even more evidence that you need to do something different to stand out a bit. A quick internet search yields sodall and spoofnews as others that copy the BBC format.

I really do think you need to consider that - if you want Hubbub to go anywhere - because at the moment it would be completely impossible to tell the difference between articles on Hubbub, dailymash, Newsarse, newsbiscuit, deadbrain etc. etc.

In fact, the only one that stands out at all for me is TheSpoof and that's only because they have more contributors and so the style isn't so samey. That's not to say the quality is any better though. It isn't.

I think to stand out a bit you (or anyone else who wants a crack at spoof news) needs to do something different. Attack it all from a different angle. Like I said before, similar to the difference between The Day Today and Brass Eye - it would have been easy for Morris to copy The Day Today when he went to C4 but he took it up a notch instead.

but it is difficult to implement these until we get our readership up.

I think people have been quite polite, so far.

Your readership is low, and will stay low, because you don't have anything funny enough to entice (first-time) viewers back. Sites gain increased readership through positive word of mouth. That ain't gonna happen here.

To me, you guys are the very epitome of 'busy fools'. Working hard on a project is admirable, obviously. But you need to bring something new (and entertaining!) to the table, you haven't done that.

Cut your losses and move onto something else.
