Give Blood? Page 18
Quote: Alfred J Kipper @ May 21 2010, 3:15 PM BSTYes same here, I'm A+, it's rarer, less common, but for some ridiculous reason it isn't needed as much as the common stuff!! I feel less guilty about not going tho.
That's probably statistically true.
If you are 1:1,000,000 giving then the person who needs it must be 1:1,000,000 as well.
See Hancock, The Blood Donor.
'Blood banks are like ordinary banks. Put it in when you're flush, draw it out when you need it.'
I once worked as a donor attendant at the Blood Donor Centre for a summer job, fondly referred to simply as "Blood". It was probably the most fun job I've ever had!! I still recite the obligatory post donation "tea, coffee, hot chocolate, beef tea, lemon tea or orange juice?" when I have guests.
I have my gold donor badge! (it's not real gold, though)
As an O+ve donor, I don't have any issue with the O-ve's, who do tend to be a bit snooty since "their blood can be used by anyone.", obviously making them superior in all ways, including intellectually.
Here's a tip if you want to fast track your donor rewards, and be provided with a better class of chocolate biscuit after donating.
Find out about donating plasma or platelets.
You'll be treated like royalty, and you experience the thrill of having your red blood cells pumped back into your arm, by a whirly machine.
Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, beef tea, lemon tea or orange juice?
Beef tea? What on Earth is that?
Seconded!!

Thank you darling, I thought it was self-explanatory!!

' Ay! Carrot ! They got no cowin' Bovril !'
Ohhhhhhhhhhh.
As far as the black jars of mystery stuff go, I'm more of a Marmite person.

My thanks to platelet donors, one of whom helped save my son's life many years ago when he had leukaemia.

I'm o negative and extremely snooty about how special my blood is!
Is yours blue, darling?
Naturally.
Just been to give blood. Yey!
Did nearly a pint in 5 mins 10! Think that's my personal best.
Plus they had ginger biscuits!
