That sounds like a fun trip. I hope your car floats, or the Channel crossing is going to be a bit dicey.

We have magic trains that go under the sea!

It all sounds like fun until you remember that France is on the other side.
It's always a pleasure to drive through France
My first Holiday abroad was in Portugal & we drove all the way.
The car packed in somewhere in Spain.
At least we'd made it through France, we were all relieved about that.
How does auto insurance coverage work in Europe? Is you car covered in every country?
I *think* we're good in Canada, but Mexico is another story and you have to purchase supplemental insurance. Not that anyone would want to drive through Mexico these days ...
I was travelling with a mate's family.
Whoever they were with it seemed to be fine & we weren't far from a Motorway phone thankfully.

Even paying all those tolls, those money grabbing garlic bummers! Wow this site has made me really anti French

Good God. That is seven shades of hell.
Quote: DaButt @ May 20 2010, 3:05 PM BSTI do 10-12 hours if I'm by myself. I like to cover at least 700 miles per day.
It takes about 13 hours to drive across Texas alone. I-10 is 880 miles long from the Louisiana to New Mexico border. This state is too freakin' big.
London to Penzance (South-east tip of England) used to take 10-11 hours, but the roads have improved since then.
London to John O'Groats in 1985 (to go scuba diving in the Orkneys) took two days, I think, we had a big 30 cwt (1.5 ton) van plus am MGB sports car & swapped drivers around a lot.
When we went on holiday in England, we'd usually have to drive about 5 hours, and we thought that was a huuuuuuuge distance.
I've done Spain for the last three years. I normally go all the way through. I need a holiday at the end!
We went diving in Skye once, and I think I took a fairly leisurely 2 days to get there on my own in my Lotus Ekan & again two days on the way back stopping a night at a Glascow pub.
Forgot where I stayed on the way north. I may have just slept in the car in a layby. Not a very comfortable thing to do in an Elan.

What is "self" tanning?
Creams and lotions and stuff?
