The trouble is, all the shows you review are knocking on a bit, so unless you're saying something really fresh or original, it's all been said before. Try reviewing some newer shows.

And find some shows you like. Most of the great reviewers - including Brooker - have a real passion for telly, and this shines through when they find something they like.

Thanks for the advice, I really do appreciate it. I shall take it on board and apply it in my next post.

What did you think to the reviews themselves? Any good? Or does the poor choice of subject matter ruin the content?

Yes, there was some fairly decent stuff in there. But you have to be careful with that angry attacking style that you don't just come across as a Charlie Brooker mini-me. Develop your own voice more. Perhaps take a show you like, but are a bit embarrassed about liking, and talk about that?

Thanks, again very good advice. I certainly see your "mini Brooker" point, to be honest that was how I wrote before I discovered Brooker's work but I certainly see that developing a style unique to me is very important.

I shall just have to suppress the inner Brooker.
Hopefully my own comic style will develop as the blog does, it's still in it's early days and fairly readerless :S

This reads less Charlie Brooker, more ...

Well, that you're a little kid and - having been sent to bed early - you've decided to vent your spleen by firing off an angry letter to Junior Points of View.

I.e. your content is incredibly childish. Having a dig at Noel Edmonds is fine, but you need to give us a good reason why.

Ok goo points first. You're entries are a good length, they're well paced and each one has a definite point. These goodies are surprisingly rare.

Now the bad. You're picking obvious targets either go for more esoteric shows or have something diferent to say. You swear too much and you seem kinda pointlessly angry. Why does coach trip make you mad? You're jokes are more you being really cross than jokes. You may find it a good idea to pull back and structure some jokes.

I pretty much agree with what everyone else said.

Ok, I intended to quote you all individually unfortunately I am yet to get to grips with the forum layout so....

Thank you all for the compliments and even more for the advice and areas of suggested improvement.

Much appreciated :)
