General Election 2010 Page 121

I've always fancied counting the ballot papers. I'd wear one of those rubber thimbles.

I love tedious jobs counting and sorting things.

Do we have a government yet?

Do we have a government yet?

Yeah. I'm doing it. I've just legalised prostitution and drugs and totally saved the economy.

We're Holland now then?

Basically. How are you liking it so far?

We've had a lot of speculation for several days now. When do you think the speculation will end? Some say today, but they thought that yesterday. In fact we might well be speculating about the end of the speculation for some time yet. So when will the speculation about the speculation end? Care to speculate?

Sorry I haven't got time to comment... Next client please!

Aye thang yo.

And don't forget your 'Governments' 15 per cent. Just post it to:

Lucas,
Government,
3rd bin on the left,
main entrance Waterloo Station.

Ta.

None of the possible solutions on the table provide a strong and stable government. People throw statistics around the Conservatives won the election so - well ten million people voted for them, fifteen million voted lib/lab if that's the way it goes. Labour should go into opposition probably, the Conservatives should field a minority probably with a lib supply and demand kind of support and we should have another election at some stage.

I agree with the author of Hard Evidence (available from all good bookshops). I can't see a set-up that doesn't end in another election in 6-9 months' time.

As someone who doesn't want the Tories, I think the best solution is for the Tories to run a minority government - they won't be able to do the most unpalatable things and the moment they do there will be a no confidence vote and an election.

None of the coalition ideas really stack up. That isn't a problem with hung parliaments per se - just with the numbers involved in this particular hung parliament. If the Conservatives had got about ten more seats they would have been able to cobble together a Government with some NI support, and with ten fewer seats the Lab-Lib coalition would have had a majority of seats without having to rely on numerous other parties and their own demands. It's just badly hung.

Wow, really? You think it'll last that long?

Only because they all bugger off for the summer.

Ha!

Fascinating watching all of the developments (or maybe lackthereof).

I think your mistaking fascinating with soul crushingly dull.

Looks like it may be all over. http://order-order.com/2010/05/11/lib-dem-mps-and-fed-ex-to-meet-at-7-30/

When I read the headline I thought they were going to parcel up the Government and send it somewhere far away !
