I'm looking forward to tonight's edition of Mark Steel's in Town, because I attended this recording. Should be interesting to see how it was edited.

I heard they had quite a job editing out the guy with the "conspicuous laugh". Pleased

Yes, but they seemed to edit that out. They also edited out a man who performed a song about Gateshead - which was good because the song was rubbish. Very good I thought.

Yes, it was good. It's been a cracking little series. And, as I mentioned earlier in this thread, he has the ability to take the piss out of a place without it being nasty or offensive.

Can someone please tell Mark Steel that he really can't do accents, thanks.

Also that it's not funny to advocate touching artwork. He really is a philistine; he's the man who'd never heard of 'gazebo', and I've heard him making fun of a piece of music he'd never heard before, which turned out to be John Cage's most famous work, 4'33". What's more, his interpretation of historical events varies between biased and plain wrong.

he can be funny though.

I did a gig with him in Brighton about a year or so ago and he was a bit of an arse.

However I enjoyed his "Mark Steel lectures" on BBC4 and I sometimes enjoy his radio shows.

For those interested - something related to Mark Thomas: The Manifesto.

The political candidate who was campaigning on "The People's Manifesto", Danny Kushlick of Bristol West, finished sixth out of seven candidates. He got just 343 votes, which was 0.6% of vote, meaning Mark Thomas lost his deposit.

I don't think that particular series ever really took off so I'm not surprised he lost his deposit. I'm hard pushed to remember much about it, or even its ultimate purpose.

For anybody interested, The News Quiz is at 7:15 tonight.
So that's basically me.

No, I'm interested too. Thanks for mentioning.

Tonight the Sony Awards are announced. For those who want reminding, the nominations for the comedy award are:

* Adam and Joe
* Bleak Expectations
* Down the Line
* Mark Steel's in Town
* The News Quiz

Also, Frank Skinner is up for entertainment programme award for his show on Absolute Radio, and Richard Herring's podcast series As It Occurs To Me (which the BCG hosts) is up for the internet programme award.

I want to hear Adam's interview with Paul Weller, which was apparently on the Jonathon Ross show a few weeks back. Who knows where I can find it?

For me, it's between Bleak Expectations and Down the Line.

The winners are:

Adam and Joe - Gold
Mark Steel's in Town - Silver
Bleak Expectations - Bronze

Richard Herring did not the internet award. The entertainment award has yet to be given.

It's about time Adam and Joe won!
