Wasn't Reagan your oldest pres? So he'd have been hopeless in a fight.

He was still in great shape.
Quote: Dolly Dagger @ May 8 2010, 4:16 PM BSTI think Brown could do well in a fight, with that bovine thing going on. Low centre of gravity and all that. Plus he looks like he could get very angry.
No chance.
You just attack him from his blind side.
Quote: PhQnix @ May 8 2010, 3:12 PM BSTThe Tories did approach Nick Clegg to stand for them in parliament at one time, though I am unsure if it ever amounted to more than a brief flirtation.
As far as I know he worked for the Tory Govt in some role in international relations, as a diplomat. Leon Britten recommended him for selection as a tory MP, but instead he chose the Liberals, or Paddy Ashdown said he'd have a brighter future there. Something vaguely like that.
What would proportional representation voting mean?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/election2010/results/
Based on the BBC website figures for the number of votes, for a fully proportional national split, the seats in parliament would be:
Con 234
Lab 188
Libdem 149
SNP 11
SinnFein 4
Plaid Cymru 4
SDLP 3
Green 6 or 7
UKIP 20
BNP 13
In all likely-hood every election would give a "Hung Parliament"
Think about it!

You sound like you think it would be a bad thing.

There's a blade both sides!

Nick Griffin the big winner! Not good.
But can our system be fair where labour got 9 million votes and the lib dems 6 million and there is such a differance in the number of seats.
Quote: Matthew Stott @ May 8 2010, 4:45 PM BSTThere's a blade both sides!
Yes that's why I pressed the delete button. I've put my glasses back on now.
Bill Clinton was pretty handy with his chopper.
My secret sources tell me that the lib dems want Ken Clarke as chancellor.
Which he will effectively become if this coalition goes ahead.
There's a big clue to how successful this thing will be in their party names - Conservative, Liberal - more or less opposites in meaning.

It does seem like an odd combination doesn't it.
Quote: Kevin Murphy @ May 8 2010, 4:45 PM BSTYou sound like you think it would be a bad thing.
Well, it can be. Italy had a Proportional Representation voting system between the end of the second world war and the early nineties, and had something like forty odd different governments in that time. Massively corrupt and incompetent governments, I should add. And the Italians know how to do corruption and incompetence properly. Not like us.

Really? I hate him even more.

But he has no reason or self-control, so the others would easily get one over on him.

That's because it would.
