The draw for the cabinet

Two men are stood at a table with two pots of numbered balls in front of them as per the draw for the world cup. A lady is chairing the event.

The first man puts his hand in the pot and stirs before drawing out a ball.

Man : Number 7.

VO : Chris Huhne.

The second man puts his hand in the pot and stirs and draws out a ball.

Man 2 : Letter G

VO : And that's education. A ringfenced budget there. He'll be pleased with that draw.

The first man draws out final ball

Man : Number 2.

VO: How appropriate. <Beat> George Osbourne.

The second man draws out his final ball.

Man 2 : Letter F

VO : And that's the Home Office.

Lady : And that concludes the draw for the Tory / Lib Dem cabinet. All jobs to be played to a finish by the weekend of the 1st September. When a vote of no confidence will be held and this whole sorry saga be repeated again. You poor bastards.

I liked this one better because it feels more now. Poor Gordon already feels part of the past.

I like this one but I think the title gives it away too much - not that that matters to an audience.

Doesn't make any sense to me.

Could you work it so that at the end they find that there are two balls left - '"Oh, they must be Gordon's " or something of that ilk??

Nice timely sketch, though.

Cheers Folks.

Bill - its meant to be about how the Torys and Libdems decided their cabinet posts.

Lazzard - yeah not that happy with the ending, will look at something else.

Yeah, I realised that much, but it only makes sense to those who know both politics AND the football drawing method.

So it's about as difficult to perceive as STV Proportional Representation voting.

:D

Bung some explanatory sentences in.

What's the significance of 7,G,2,F

I think I finally understood it, but I had to read it over several times. I think I might have understood it straight off with the following mods.

Angelic

I disagree with Nick. I mean Bill.

Erm. How can you disagree with my statement of fact? Unless you have telepathy?

I mean your mods spoil the sketch somewhat, in my factual opinion. Especially the first voiceover. :)

I really like the original, Big Fella. And I think Lazzard's suggestion would make it a laugh-out-loud ending.

Adding an explanation waters it down - if it takes a moment or two to understand what's going on then the audience would probably appreciate it more when they 'get it'. Only my opinion.

I can only echo Kasm's post - especially as it bigged up my ending.
But you're right - over-explain it and you kill it stone dead.
It's a sketch, not a public information film. Wave

So who's going to be forming the Tory/Lib Dem Cabinet? Aren't there a few posts missing? I did like Kasm's balls, tho.

Nice one Bigfella. I liked the concept and its execution

I think this great.
But I'm sure there's room to fit a bit more in, without it seeming forced or being too long..
