General Election 2010 Page 103

Also disappointing to see demented clown Caroline Lucas elected, and genuinely upset that the BNP didn't gain a seat. That really would have been a fabulous kick in the teeth of politics. Hoping that Farage may gain Buckingham.

Why not? It's my democratic right!!

Yes and it's my democratic right to say that Labour and what they stand for are complete shit.

Polls are sometimes wrong though, look at how popular they all said the Lib Dems would be this time; didn't really turn out that way though. I've never been asked to take part in any poll, nor has anyone I know.

Chip did, chip did!

It's a different type of poll though. Certainly wasn't voting intentions.

Regarding the Lib Dems, I'm not sure they so much showed seats as popularity?

Oh, and on the subject of the TV election debates, whilst I did thoroughly enjoy them, they overshadowed the whole campaign and turned it far too personal and Presidential. I would be delighted to see them not return.

He's not allowed, that pathetic attempt for a pity vote won't fool anyone. :)

Someone said on TV, I can't remember who, that people would be surprised and confused to get to the polling booth and not see David, Gordon and Nick's names there.

Yes, and . . ? I don't think I was saying anyone shouldn't.

Probably only because the girl asking was asian and in a tight top or something though.

When I voted, I got to see a middle aged woman fall off a log, which everyone in my line seemed to enjoy. She stood on it and wiggled back and forth, saying 'look at me' to her son. We waited, we prayed, then down she went like a sack of spuds.

I was suprised about the Lib Dem votes. I honestly thought that Lib Dem would do better as everyone I knew who had told me who they were voting for were going Lib Dem.

Yes, I thought you'd be pleased. The Greens have very left-wing policies, the kind which have been completely absent since New Labour was created (by Sauron). What with signals like that, and the prospect of a more left-leaning Lib Lab coalition, maybe leftie politics shall return.

Here's a smiley for you to use for that thought. :)

Laughing out loud Awesome.

Yes. I don't understand that at all.
It's like that US election where everyone said they were voting for Al Gore (or whoever it was), and Bush still won again.

I think that just proves how pointless the TV debates were.

It's what happens on the day of voting that counts.

History suggests that they can be absolutely critical, if what happened in the US between Kennedy and Nixon is anything to go by.

I can't believe the Pirate Party didn't win a single seat.

Our system clearly needs reform.

I think it likely that quite a lot of people might have secretly wanted to vote libdem, but thought that voting libdem might not get Gorgon Brown out.

If you're running an actual Presidential campaign. Which we're not.

Jack Dromey on BBC One right now arguing that black is hot pink.

One thing worth pointing out (as it seems to be missing from the TV coverage today) is that unlike with Labour and the Conservative Parties, the Lib Dem leader DOES NOT have power to go into coalition. He has to go back to his party almost on an individual point basis. So we certainly won't know what the situation is by the end of the day.

It's interesting to note that the people most vocal in their calls for PR would be those who are most shocked and abhorred by its inevitable result: MPs from the BNP.
