I Wrote A Sitcom Page 2

Ironically I wrote a script that would suit any actor but put in the cast list the two are black, then get accused of racism and stereotyping. Sad when one can't write about blacks or gays.
But I guess one can't write about a muslim terrorist either....stereotyping. I thought writers would understand other writers worries and support them, it's PC gone mad.
How about casting Julian Clary or Alan Carr.....oh no, no, no dear, that is stereotyping. Do people like Julian and Alan not exist then in the minds of the PC team....whoever they are

It depends what you write about people whether it's stereotyping or not.

Who told you your script was stereo-typing?

I use two hands when writing so presumably I am always stereo typing?

I'll PM it to you if you like Dolly, see what you think or better still email it. I despair

Yeah, best not to mention names publically!

It's okay you don't need to tell me - but I take it, it was a professional opinion?

I wrote a sitcom with three characters, a camp gay, and two young black guys flat sharing and have been told it's stereotyping. I am furious. Gimmi Gimmi and The Thin Blue line have a gay character. Why is that stereotyping?

What were the characters like? Give us a basic breakdown of their personalities/traits, etc.

Did it have this joke in it, Bushbaby?

"a survey has been carried out asking immigrants/asylem seekers would they be happy if Britain changed to the euro. 99% said no, they were happy with the giro"

;) :D

N.B. Constable Goody is a sissy not a queen.

His heart belongs to the redoubtable Habib.

Make a point. Don't have a go. It's not the thing here. In critique. You've not read her script that she is referencing.

You can tell I live in the country.
I see the initials PC and I think of The Pony Club.
And when THEY go mad, by Christ...

Is that not stereotyping a cissy?

Nope it's a standard chartacter from cimedies of the 1940s. The character who acts gfay but aparently isn't.

If he fancied one of the male cops, would that be stereotyping?
