Ban the Burka? Page 8

Most Brits are not Humanist. Being a humanist means adhering to a particular set of beliefs. It's not a default position. People celebrate Christmas and Easter, generally not in a religious sense. Everyone knows the Jesus story. Ergo culturally Christian. And if you saw anything anti-Jewish in what I said then you're looking for it, Soots.

Hey I know the Jesus story does that make me culturally Christian?

Shit I also read Battlefield Earth must make me a Scientologist.

Hey I know the Jesus story

You were in it, weren't you?

Killing our lord.

We were playing truth or dare. He didn't want to say if he was gay so he got a dare.

To address your two points in turn:

- No, it doesn't. It just means you grew up in a culturally Christian country,

- No, it means you read bad Science Fiction.

Honestly Sooty, do you even believe your own arguments here?

Laughing out loud

Restrictive individual dress that removes the ability to be an individual or express one's self is wrong. People who go along with it are indoctrinated and need help.

I dunno, I've known some girls with very modern British liberal families, but who choose to wear it.

I wander how much the Christian myth affects anything in the UK? And Battlefield Earth is pretty good.

Believing one's own arguments is boring beyond belief.

I don't think I really know any Muslims.
Certainly none who wear any of the... accoutrements.

What the full face gear? That's youth rebellion, which is the egg you always have to crack when making a freedom omlette.

I haven't read all of these posts, so this might've already been mentioned, but what do people on here think of female Muslim surgeons not having to roll their sleeves up during surgery, even though infection is the number one cause of death in hospitals?

:O

I'm only guessing, but I would assume this is Daily Mail bollocks.

I don't know that it affects anything for most people, per se. But I believe that belief in it exists among people who wouldn't classify themselves as religious.

Nope it's true. They have to wear plastic arm protectors, do keep up.

*waves, distinctly encumbered by the burka*

Ha, I'm sure it suits you down to the ground...
