Ban the Burka? Page 6

I thought the Mesopotamians were Babylonians?

This should answer all the questions

Governments regulate stuff it's kinda what they do.

But no you're right. As a fundamentalist nihilist I demand the right to get drunk and drive my car in to bus queues.

No one should opress my right to commit murder suicides at random.

If that's the level of your argument, comparing wearing a burka to negligent homicide, maybe I shouldn't bother...

I happen to be of the opinion that there are lines government should not cross when regulating private behaviour.

That's not a "liberal" view, btw. If anything, it could be classed as a "libertarian" view.

One of the worst forms of opression one can commit is to see some one suffering and ignore their suffering. After all it must be a valid choice? They made it so ipsofacto it's a good choice it's theirs.

The first act of a true abuser is to make the victim internalise their guilt and opression.

The right perspective is that Muslims are outsiders in a traditionally Christian country! That they can't even see that, in flocking here to live, they sully their own beloved faith and principles, will forever be beyond me!

Does that make me an outsider? I have no Christian tradition in me at all.

Please form an orderly queue behind Edward Woodward.

If you're referring to The Whicker Man wasn't he SPOILER for being a pur Christian virgin?

But you might be right. I thought he was SPOILER because he was an outsider, but it's been a while since I saw the film.

He was SPOILER for being a SPOILER and not having given thingy Bill Wymans piece some CENSORED when everyone else were SPOILERS.

Not if you're non-Muslim I wouldn't really say, no.
If you're a Muslim I say it does - We crusaded against the Muslims - that's what makes them traditional outsiders (and enemies), from a faith perspective. But because Muslims cannot separate faith from culture, they are still natural outsiders here.

I'd say the overwhelming UK culture is secular. We're certainly quite removed from opressive Christian states as found in Nigeria or Bolivia.

By the way Alfred do you know many Muslims personally?

And our laws far more constrain restrict religious powers than enforce them.

I'd say the overwhelming UK culture is secular.

Not overwhelmingly.

We have CoE bishops in our legislature and a religious head of state, which makes us fairly backwards compared to many of our EU peers.

And if Cameron is our PM this time next week, it's faith schools all the way, unless Clegg manages to get his secular foot in the door.

Allowing the state-endorsed religious indocrination of the children of religious parents will cause more harm to social cohesion than any dress code.

We are now, absolutely. I still say that religious extremists who cannot saeparate their dogma from their culture do not have a place in a secular society. They are physically here, but must be seen as outsiders, until they secularise themselves and properly join OUR culture.

I have known a handful, no more.

I would describe most Britons (whatever thatt means) as being culturally Christian, even if they profess to not follow a religion.

Faith schools will be seen as Labour's great failure they are awful on so many levels.

Many Muslims do fully join our society. As for our culture that really is a hugely complex concept. It's not like the Scouts, you don't get badges.

Well now I am really insulted.

He probably means Judeo-Christian, if that makes you feel any better.
