Russell Crowe as Robin Hood Page 2

Yeah they are damn weird those yanks sometimes.

You're forgetting the most historically accurate depiction of Robin Hood ever made. Robin Hood: Men in Tights. IMDB tells me Cary Elwes was born in England.

Anyone remember the recent BBC version where Frair Tuck was a ripped black man? I'm still laughing at that one. Nevermind historical accuracy, let's fist the legend!

Not sure I agree with this. I think he churns out a great movie every ten years or so. Alien. Thelma and Louise. Gladiator. American Gangster. He should do another cracker about 2016/17.

Jesus, I HATED Gladiator. He's done nothing even close to touching the level of greatness he achieved with Alien and Blade Runner.

Ridley Scot is a hack. He hasn't made any great films. Alien and Bladerunner have amazing production design, but you have to thank Geiger, Syd Mead and Doug Trumble for that, it's nothing to do with Scot.

I still think the Hovis ad is his best piece of work overall

I like most of his films to look at, they are very good looking, but he's not a great story teller.

What about The Duellists??

I'm sure they had a lot to do with other people, like every film, but I still think they're great pieces of work.

Beat me to it.

As to whether or not Ridley Scott is a hack, I liked Blade Runner and Alien, but there are many of his movies that I thought were rubbish. I have to admit I haven't seen The Deullists and am going to go put it in the Netflix queue.

Looking at his Wiki page I see that he has 'untitled Alien prequel' in the works and a movie entitled 'Brave New World' which I can only assume is based on the book. Both will have my interest.

I beg to differ. Although just so we have a benchmark for Godot Approved Great Films, perhaps you could rattle off a few?

I seem to remember really liking that, but it's been a while since I saw it.

Its a corking film One of his first I think.

I think it was his first, in fact.

We should bring back duels. I'd like to be able to slap somebody across the face with a glove and then meet them at dawn the next day to fight to the death.

I do love Alien and, especially, Bladrunner. I even sat through a documentary on it on the last DVD release of the film that was about six hours long. I understand Harrison Ford hates it though, which is a bit odd. Maybe hated making it, okay, but hates the film? Has he seen any of the many turds that litter his career?

Is this another stab at Random Hearts? Goddamnit, Matt!
