Another shitty podcast to listen to on the bus.

Have just discovered these guys. They have recorded a pilot podcast and appear to be doing more soon.

I've heard a lot, lot worse, put it that way. Cool intro music as well.

It's on itunes, search 'The Horn Podcast'

or the blog page that they host it on has the itunes link - http://thehorncast.blogspot.com/

laters.

Goodlad.

Christ the buses have improved since the last time I was on one.

When was that? I'm not a fan of buses but my girlfried can't get enough of the bendy red bastards.

Why would I want to listen to a shitty podcast when there are so many good ones out there?

One man's shit is another mans gold my friend.

podcasts by nature are pointless other than to pass time. kind of like a shit.

All good things, peace be with you.

Well that's true of course, but you yourself describe the show as shit (and you have a point) so why choose to listen to it? I subscribe to so many great podcasts and barely get the chance to listen to half of them. I can't imagine deliberately tuning into crap.

Is this honestly the loveable Bussell of yore? It's like someone's hacked your account recently.
:O
Can we have the old Bussell back please? :)

Has he been nasty? I didn't notice? There was that Craig H crit, but he didn't say anything that wasn't true or helpful, it was the other guy who got snarky.

Doesn't this basically say "It's shit"? Which is hardly a proper crit.

And the CraigH thread was definitely both of them biting. If David genuinely made a mistake in commenting there, he should have been the one to demonstrate the classiness he later asked of Craig - by not responding - but his immediate follow-up with its use of 'Kiddo' and subsequent replies were plainly condescending.

If there's history between two people then 'Kiddo' is not intended to be pally, but more a put-down. At best, it's a lack of wisdom in word choice; at worst, it's blatantly looking for an argument. I deliberately avoided making comment there as I put it down to a bad day between the two of them but it's continued.

I'm not saying you can't be honest in your opinion (I don't like it because...) but rubbing people's noses in it (It's shit), isn't the way to do it.
:)

But he was commenting on the threads very title, rather than the actual content. I imagine he hasn't even listened to it, just asking why anyone would listen to something the title of the very thread refers to as shitty.

Would indicate that he has listened. He couldn't know the guy has a point unless he listened.

Come again? Did I say something wrong? I asked an honest question - why would someone settle for "shit" (the poster's words) when there's so much quality material out there? I get why someone would sit down on a Friday night and watch Die Hard instead of Andrei Rublev but that's a case of apples and oranges - they're both good films in their own rights. I get that sometimes people want to be entertained and not challenged but we're talking about comedy here - if you're starved for some good stuff to listen to I'd be happy to offer suggestions. I can't promise you'll like them but it's got to be worth the punt, right? Better than listening to something substandard for lack of choice.

I did listen. And I agree with the poster - it wasn't very good. I don't see the problem - it's not like I'm having a go at the author of the piece, is it?

Whoah, this is getting out of hand. I admit that I probably would have been better off had I stayed away from that argument altogether but in that instance I was defending myself against a direct personal insult. I wasn't looking for an argument, I was dragged into one. I don't dip into crit all that often these days but when I do I try my best to be helpful and honest. I've never come to this forum looking for a fight and I don't intend to start now.

I know it isn't your intention but surely you can see how someone may misinterpret that as you being in the mentor role and me being the pupil? I'd never be offended but others could've.

Craig H's insult came after your 'kiddo' post which, as noted above, was at best unwise of you.

All I'm saying is, be a little more tactful in your responses. Usually your posts are apt and helpful.

I think I might see what the problem is here... are you under the impression that the poster is the author of this work? I know it's in Critique but he makes it very clear that this is something he found and not his own work. If he were offering the podcast for critique of course I would have been more constructive in my response.

I don't waste my time trolling on this forum and operate quite transparently with only the best intentions. To be honest, I'm beginning to feel a bit under attack with all of this. The debate you refer to between myself and Craig H was an unintentional spillover from from the time I critiqued a work of his and got insulted for my efforts. I'd forgotten he was someone who had slighted me previously and fell for the same trick twice. I'd link to the first instance but I'm afraid I don't remember the thread. To summarise: "He started it!"

Yes, and my thanks. :)

Not my intention, I always ask another opinion first to make sure I'm being as unbiased as possible and that I'm not misreading. And although I'd have preferred not commenting in this and recent instances, I'd have been letting down my mod duties if I hadn't.

He started it isn't really a justification, Sir. :P
